Rifle Renovation Appeal 2026
OURC Rifle Renovation Appeal 2026
Help us to make every rifle competition-ready for Easter Bisley and secure the future of target shooting at Oxford.

Dear Alumni and Friends of OURC,
With Cadet Target Rifle shooting ending in 2025, university clubs have never been more important in developing the next generation of target shooters. Membership has grown by 50% since 2022, and we must ensure our equipment keeps pace.
We are undertaking an urgent programme of rifle renovations so that as many students as possible can compete this season.
Our 2026 target is GBP 12,000, and we are grateful to have received leadership gifts covering over 50% of this.
Further donations received in the coming weeks will maximise the number of rifles ready for Easter Bisley 2026, and secure the club's future for many years.
How to donate
Donate via the University's fundraising page for OURC (linked below) and please remember to Gift Aid where eligible.
Other options
- Larger or restricted fullbore donations: the Lovell & Green Trust is happy to assist - contact Derek Lowe.
- US donors: please donate via Americans for Oxford, citing "Rifle Club".
- Equipment donations are useful: mats, scopes, reloading components and slings are particularly welcome. Please get in touch to arrange this.
What your support will fund
In the past year, OURC has already:
- Serviced 42 rifles
- Replaced five target rifle barrels
- Renovated twelve match rifles
This was funded substantially through the Lovell & Green Trust using accumulated regular and targeted donations - thank you to those donors. However, a significant amount of work remains to be done:
- Five target rifles requiring new barrels
- Six match rifles in need of full renovation
- Two backgun match rifles requiring telescopic sights to be competitive
- Replacement of three pre-1970 .22 rifles
- Purchase of a second left-handed .22 rifle to stop excessive kit sharing
Every contribution, large or small, contributes to safe rifles on the firing point this year, and to OURC's success for many seasons to come.
